Barbados is an English speaking eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. It is approximately 34 kilometres (21 miles) in length and up to 23 km (14 miles) in width, covering an area of 432 km (167 sq miles) with a population of 285,000 persons.
It enjoys a tropical climate year round, political and economic stability, modern infrastructure, and advanced telecommunication systems.
